GC Eastern Region Handicap League 21st July 2023

The Team is at present top of the league with 8 points, game difference +32 hoops +109.

That gives a slight cushion for the time being but we need to win our last game against Maldon Pavilion, who are second on 6 points but with a game in hand against Chelmsford Blue [who we beat 17-1 back in the heat of early June]. I guess Maldon will beat Chelmsford [but not guaranteed] & earn equal points with Colchester, so it is likely that the final match will be the decider for the league? I will contact Chelmsford’s captain Judith Hand urging her team to become victors over Maldon.

The Advantage Play rules seem to be working reasonably well but creates a situation where games against high handicap players become a mountain to climb but undaunted we play on with a positive winning attitude.

Coloured pegs are gradually becoming superfluous for games as most players are now armed with ‘STROKECounter’ clicker scoring device, although they do tend to be rather fragile & break easily. During our last match we agreed that no coloured pegs would be used and it worked well

Our final match Round 5 to be played against Maldon Pavilion, 18th August, home.
