Overview:
The Chairman is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the club’s strategic direction, operations, and activities. They provide guidance, support, and direction to the club committee and members.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Governance: Offer leadership and strategic guidance to the club, steering decision-making processes in harmony with the club’s constitution, mission, vision, and values. Continuously review and update the constitution as needed to reflect evolving needs and aspirations.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate the effectiveness of club policies, procedures, and programs on an ongoing basis. Solicit feedback from members and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed. Formulate and execute strategies to drive club expansion, grow and enhance member retention.
- Committee Management: Supervise the committee and foster cohesion and clarity of purpose. Lead committee meetings, facilitating discussions and ensuring diligent follow-up on action items.
- Representation: As the club’s ambassador, and champion of its interests cultivate relationships with the neighbours, local authorities, community organisations, and potential sponsors. Seek opportunities for collaboration, sponsorship, and support to advance the club’s objectives. Communication effectively with Croquet England as required. Presentation of trophies at events hosted by the club.
- Membership Engagement: Cultivate a warm and inclusive club atmosphere, fostering member engagement, camaraderie, and a spirit of sportsmanship. Cultivate transparent communication channels with members, ensuring regular updates are provided and promptly addressing any concerns that arise. Develop strategic initiatives aimed at elevating member satisfaction, bolstering loyalty, and deepening involvement in club affairs. Foster a culture of volunteerism, actively encouraging sustained participation by organising volunteers for both ongoing responsibilities and special events. Support the planning and execution of club events, tournaments, social gatherings, and fundraisers. Present the club trophies at the annual dinner.
- Financial Oversight: Work closely with the Treasurer to establish and monitor the club’s budget and financial policies. Ensure prudent financial management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Annual General Meeting (AGM): Present a comprehensive overview of the club’s activities from the past year and outline future plans. Lead the AGM proceedings, adeptly facilitating discussions and ensuring diligent follow-up on action items.
